Orchis

Orchis is an unfinished body of work. I was taken to Kew Gardens by my parents in the 80’s. In their twenties they had lived nearby. It was an exciting event to be going somewhere new, a long drive from home. The huge glasshouses were magnificent structures. Viewed now through the lens of colonialism I’m unsure to feel about Kew. Research into the Orchid, the orchid trade, regulations and commodification of the species led to a variety of photographic outcomes using medium format, 35 mm and dslr.
