I was delighted to be invited to exhibit alongside 10 talented artists and poets. The reflections upon experiences of motherhood were open, sometimes difficult, also celebratory. (M)Other was curated by Shona MacDonald.
Family photographs, evidence, scanned and scrutinised. Looking for codes and signs, trying to decipher who my mother was.
Faded memories from a child’s perspective are unreliable and distorted, lacking. They do not work. A mother myself, the ritual repeats, searching, I need reassurance. A not quite formed fluid idea of who mother might have been.
