Rebecca McCardle is a visual artist whose practice explores being, cognition, and perception. Her 2D and 3D outcomes integrate analogue and digital technologies to transform and draw attention to the material qualities of object, space, and place.
Central to her process is an attempt to a pause, a slowing down — that resists the more comfortable instinct of constant movement, consumption and pace.
Work include a series of Polaroid images that evoke the 1970s family photo album. These blurred abstractions of nostalgia are materially present, standing in contrast to today’s backlit, haptically accessed digital manifestations of memory encoded in binary.
Rebecca teaches at Chichester College Group, working at the intersection of creativity, education and technology.
